FFA Pig for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Any time I photograph Ashton, I know the session will turn out fabulous! I photograph many dogs, but this is my first pig. Ashton dedicated the past few months to raising this Hampshire Pig named Billy Ray.

High School students who find their passion amaze me! I love watching teens emerge into young adults and discover new interests that change the way they look at the world. As I edited this session, I kept thinking about Charlotte’s Web and that’s some pig!

I love seeing the commitment required to raise an animal, and Ashton has done a great job with Billy Ray the pig. I also want to recognize the parents who drive before the sun comes up and through evening traffic to help support their kids too! Us parents are under appreciated and overworked. However, I see the fruits of your labor with such a fabulous young lady!

Rodeo Week is coming up as Ashton will practically be living at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for a few days with her pig. She is also scheduled to compete in the calf scramble and hoping to raise a heifer next year. I’m wishing her and Billy Ray the pig all the best for their big week at the rodeo!
